Everything the fortune-teller told him has come true, the fortune-teller was so accurate to the extend of predicted his result of the exam, and rank of position, salary he would be receiving. So he believed since fortune cannot be changed, he might as well stay in the monastery for the rest of his life. The monk told him although destiny cannot be change but luck can be change and told him ways to change his path.
