Personally looking to invest a little in crypto, a few hundred maybe. Thinking of buying ETH via Gemini to hold long term. How can I reduce fees or earn interest on Gemini? Is it that risky?

Crypto is inherently risky so, please understand what exactly you're buying and what its actual value is.
As for reducing fees, do use ActiveTrader to make your orders to get the 0.35% comms as opposed to the usual 1.49% on Gemini Basic. Note also that Gemini Active Trader is only available on desktop or through mobile browser (i.e. not in the app). As for interest, Gemini has their own Gemini Earn which nets about 3.05% per year. At such a small amount of ETH, it wouldn't make sense to transfer out for higher yields since most other platforms won't offer anything too crazy anyways (7% tops).
