Just checked and the value of my Syfe REIT+ (and most S REITs that made up the portfolio) has declined between Jan - Feb.
I would like to ask if there is a reason and a learning lesson from this. (From a beginner investor perspective)
Since I still intend to allocate part of my investments into the Syfe REITs+ portfolio for the long term, what further actions are recommended? Should I invest more and see this as a good opportunity? Or should I continue my monthly DCA.

The market goes up and down. As such the price of the REITs are also impacted. This is normal.
As to why there is market fluctuations during this period, there are many reasons i.e. US market movements, market sentiment etc.
If you believe in the long term and have spare cash, you could consider adding on. If not, continue DCA if your strategy still applies.

Hi Anon,
You need to understand how the Syfe REIT+ portfolio works. Since most of the REITs in the underlying index declined, the ETF also declined. And since you opted for the portfolio without risk management, nothing was done about this decline, and thus your REIT+ portfolio dipped.
Had you opted for risk management, your portfolio would have been adjusted when the ETF was declining in an attempt to maintain the value of your portfolio.
If you intend to hold onto the portfolio for the long term, then you should be happy about the dip because it allows you to buy in at a lower price, increasing your returns when it recovers in the future.
Hope this helps and all the best!
