Why is the S&P 500 more popular to invest in than the Dow Jones Industrial Average?

Realised I see a lot of people talking about S&P 500 and how it's a good investment long term, but what about the Dow?

Dia hold 30 largest companies, %in individual stock by some complicated math

Spy hold 500 companies % in individual stock by market cap.

That is why thier top holding are different. SPY more diversfied & top holding are all tech stocks. Thus the growth is more than DIA.
