Why do insurance or property agents deserve to be paid so well, for their mediocre level of servicing and knowledge?

I make just over S$200K per annum but can't help but feel jealous about this group of people - perhaps sour grapes on my end, but I don't feel that the level of servicing and knowledge that insurance or property agents have is equivalent to the monies that they are earning from clients like me.

My property agent never even chatted with us since I bought a resale HDB, I don't intend to sell my property so there's no chance I would ever need to chat with him.

My insurance agent only sends me promotions for new policies, or random cheesy stuff like restaurant vouchers during my birthday - switched agents/companies 2 times and still can't see the value of this job profession other than being someone who processes my insurance claims when required.

Not to mention the cringey social media posts of thanking their client, making MDRT, 5-digit commission month etc.

I work in corporate and have had the opportunity to meet extremely smart people from consulting (MBB) and I am convinced that they need to be paid highly - I just don't understand why some random ah beng/ah lian insurance or property agent needs to earn that much.

I highly advocate for this industry to seriously regulate the commission payouts of insurance/property agents - I have some mentees in their final year of undergraduate studies and half of them are saying they want to be an insurance/property agent as it's the fastest way to become a lot richer than their peers (understandably, they must do well).

Not everyone is able to face the rejection and have the guts, in order to be a successful agent. They also need to go through studying the rules and regulations of the market and obtain official qualifications and license for each one.

So dont deny the hardwork that they've put in!

Every career has its share of pain and rewards!

You should fire your agent and find an actual proper advisor if that is the kind of service you are receiving.

I guess those that make more are the ones that are really hustling. Most dont get to that level, more of them quit as well

FA or property agents are like salesmen imo. They get commissions from the type of service they prov...
