Generally, we categorise the cards into two main categories - cashback, or miles.
Thereafter, we understand the associated terms in order to maximise the rewards. The ability to fulfil the criteria is the most important factor. Otherwise, we become the card's slave.
Once we have establish the value of the card (through reward-cost), the rest of the features are secondary.
