What "Sure-Win Stock Gift Up to US$8,000" Actually Means on the Trust Freedom Card (Code 2GG9T8K3)

If you pick Stockback as your reward on the Trust Freedom Card, the sign-up gift arrives as stock value rather than cash. Here's how that works before the 31 Oct cut-off.

How the gift is decided

Your sure-win scratch card follows the reward mode you choose at sign-up. Choose cashback and the gift is S$18 to S$8,000 cash. Choose Stockback and the gift is US$18 to US$8,000 in stock value. The amount is random and, per the promo terms, final.

What Stockback is

  1. 3% on local and foreign spend, capped at S$500 of Stockback per quarter, until 31 Dec 2026.
  2. From 1 Jan 2027 the rate is scheduled to fall to 2% on local spend and 0.5% on foreign.
  3. The rewards are fractional US stocks and ETFs from a curated list, bought for you once your Stockback reaches a small threshold.
  4. You can change your reward mode for later quarters, so you aren't locked in.

Questions to ask yourself first

  1. Am I comfortable with a reward whose value can go up or down? A stock gift is worth what the market says it's worth. If you want certainty, pick cashback.
  2. Do I plan to hold it? If you'd just sell, the extra steps may not appeal.
  3. Does my spending suit it? The cap is S$500 of Stockback a quarter, which is roughly S$16,700 of spend at 3%. That's more than many people spend on a card.

My view: Stockback suits people who already invest and like the idea of their rewards going into a portfolio. For everyone else, cashback is simpler and the sign-up amount is cash. It's a preference, not a right or wrong answer.

Reminder: the sign-up offers end on 31 Oct 2026, and you need to enter the code (2GG9T8K3) on the first screen of the app. I list all the live Trust offers on the full list of live Trust offers.
