In order to determine the suitability, let's go through a checklist together.
β
Firstly, we need to determine whether you require healthcare insurance coverage in Singapore only, or if you prefer one with regional coverage (e.g. ASEAN countries, or even worldwide). Generally, the latter will cost more (since it provides a wider scope of coverage).
β
Next, given that you are working in Singapore, let's assume that you spend most of your time in Singapore. Accordingly in this case, it may make more sense to choose a healthcare insurance policy that provides local coverage only (more affordable as well). With this in mind, you may consider an integrated shield plan. Here is a guide on how an integrated shield plan works in Singapore: Integrated Shield Plan Singapore: A Starter's Guide
β
Thirdly, we need to determine whether you are comfortable to seek treatment in government and restructured hospitals only, or if you prefer to have access to private hopsitals without any pro-ration factor. Here is a guide to evaluate some of the differences: Private vs Public Healthcare Insurance in Singapore
β
In either case, most of the integrated shield plans in Singapore covers the eligible inpatient medical bills on an 'as-charged' basis, up to the stipulated annual claim limit. Having said that, there is usually an out-of-pocket cost that you need to pay, e.g. pro-ration factor (if applicable), deductible, and co-insurance. In order to reduce such out-of-pocket cost, most of my clients choose to include the rider for integrated shield plan. Here is more information about how it works: Integrated Shield Plan Rider Singapore: A Starterβs Guide
β
As you can see by now, there are a number of factors to consider when choosing a suitable healthcare insurance policy in Singapore. For one thing, I have the opportunity to work with multiple insurers to provide comprehensive healthcare insurance coverage. Accordingly, I would say that after knowing what you need exactly, there is certainly a plan that would be able to fulfil your needs entirely, while keeping the cost reasonable.

Hi, it is important for you to decide if you will be spending a lot of time in Singapore and also your retirement plans, if you prefer to go back, stay in Singapore, or move to somewhere else. This can help you decide the extent of coverage you would like to have with your hospitalisation plan.
β
If you would like to return to your home country, or move to another country upon retirement, you may consider a global plan. However, this would be more expensive, sometimes 5 times more expensive, so you could consider getting just local coverage from these countries.
