Hey Anonymous, as someone living in SG, I feel it is much easier to study SG stocks due to its impact on us - both directly and indirectly. Most of which are also households names that we deal with everyday, such as banks whose services we use, supermarkets that we visit now, shopping malls that we used to visit before this circuit breakers, etc.
That is not to discount both US and HK. Both are actually good in terms of growth potential, simple case would be comparing STI and S&P500. Not advocating any and saying one is better than the other, your strategy may also vary between markets due to your investment time frames.
Most importantly, you must know what you are investing into and also the willingness to study each and every of their businesses and operations.
Good luck!
