What is the difference between Parallel Importer VS Direct Dealer for Cars?

The first difference is specs of the car. For parallel importers, they tend to get their cars from different places compared from AD and hence would have different specs which tend to be a bit lower compared to AD. For example the mercedes benz A-Class A200 brought in by PI has the "kosong" spec one which has the horrible 7' displays compared to the one AD bring in which has 10.25 if you buy the lower specs one from the PI. Hence sometimes if you buy a lower spec car from the PI, the OMV will be lower thus ARF also lower which drives the cost down. However this is not to say that PI also don't bring in similar or higher spec cars compared to AD. Another difference is cost the car which definitely AD has to charge more due to more overhead such as rental and staff. One more difference is in the case of recalls. In the case of a recall, your PI might not be able to help you but if you bought through AD they will confirm get the issue sorted. Hope this helps!:)

Hey Anon, usually PI cars are cheaper than AD cars. Firstly, in simpler terms, just understand this way that PI are "re-sellers" whereas AD are "distributors".

And why are they cheaper? Few reasons to that.

1) Their warranty covers different aspects.

2) Usually it is tougher to get your parts replaced from PI as compared to AD.

3) At times, stocks are not readily available for you. Will only bring in if there is a potential buyer.

I personally purchase my bike from PI. I don't see the difference in amount anywhere justifiable. But of course, ensure that the PI dealer that you're going to make your purchase from is one that you have confidence in and has been in this business for a decent amount of time. Basically, a company that is reliable (subjective) and have been in this industry for a decent amount time (yet again, subjective).
