I'll probably look at the tip/hacks from the earning side. Citi frequently runs bonuses (well, once a year so far) to award card holders with bonus miles on their spending. They're running one right now and it usually involves spending a certain amount, paying an admin fee, and then getting bonus miles (effectively buying your miles). So that's another reason to hold on to the card instead of cancelling.

The 2017 25% bonus turkish promotion mentioned in other answers was for CitiThankYou points and not CitiMiles.
