Robo is good for newbie regardless young or old.
Opinon: after retired you dont have anymore income, (maybe except your CPFLife monthly payout?) thus i would invest in dividend paying companies or unit trust, so regardless market up or down i still get paid.
Or if i already have huge capital and i am sure to last till the end, together with CPFLife, i will not invest. Why risk it, when is sufficient. Market is always risky.

I think if you have already retired, you probably want something that is less volatile, but yet still offers some capital preservation to beat inflation.
I would say don't go for equities liao, go for something safer and less volatile like bonds or high yield saving accounts instead.
Any one of the following options will likely be alright:
High yield savings accounts (DBS Multiplier, OCBC 360 etc)
Insurance savings plans (Singlife, Singtel Dash and GIGANTIQ)
Bonds (Like Astrea VI bonds, Singapore Savings Bonds etc)
Unless of course, you retired super young, maybe in your thirties, then ya lah you can consider the following:
Dollar Cost Averaging into Passive Index ETFs,
Robo-Investors;
Regular Savings Plans
I personally recommend the first one option since it has the lowest cost.
Cheers.
