Very interesting questions, to be honest i've never thought about this even though i have heard that saying thousands on times. i dont think any novel idea will get accepted easily by people especially if those people are the HR on the other side of the table deciding if they should recruit you or the other guy "who is a much safer" choice. I guess you should specialize in a self-employed kind of niche role. I would add why not have bi-annual year long breaks ? seems like that would strike a balance between "intermittent retirement" whilst staying relevant to the economy

While i agree that we should try to accomplish some stuff whilst we still have the strength since we have time and health. If i were you, i wouldn't stop working. Instead, what i would do is to take on a lower demanding job which allows me time to do the things i love.
TBF with u, if u were to take a break and get back or rather chiong at a later age like u mentioned for your retirement, it'll be very tough. Why? Firstly, you're not as young and have the energy to CHIONG. As much as you'd like to, sometimes the body may not be able to cope.
Furthermore, things may not work in your favour because you are now older and it might be harder to find a job, what more command the desired salary you need for retirement. Think carefully...
