Contributing to SRS is one way to defray income tax. Withdrawal is possible once reach statutory retirement age (will be 63 come 1 Jul 22) with income tax incurred at 50% the rate for the withdrawal amount. Zero tax for amount up to $20k.
As SRS is another nest eggs, you would want to preserve and grow it. Investing in quality REITs is one option to grow the funds safety and at the same time, beat inflation rate.

It depends on how hands-on or off you want to be and your investment time horizon
I prefer the former and would consider using a roboadvisor, namely:
Endowus
StashAway
For Endowus, they invest in bonds and equiries using Unit Trusts.
For Stashaway, they invest in gold, real estate and equities (via ETFs).
I currently invest my CPF-OA funds with Endowus and allocated 100% to equities.
I would consider investing my future SRS funds with StashAway.

SRS hmmm isit CPFIS lol.
I think before any investments big or small. Weighing the risk-returns, time horizon, with the ability & willingness to see through right till the endstate are important.
Risk-Returns: Depend on individual risk appetite.
Time-horizon: Till 62 & beyond (Longer time to mitigate market volatilities).
Ability & Willing: Earning enough to reap the tax benefits now. Know the individual asset classes as well as the willingness to sow seeds for the future benefits.
Endstate
To me, most important aspect because the drawdown for SRS income is important and hence it must be fuss free for holding & withdrawal.
Minimal stock holdings for transition (CDP considerations) and income-bearing since I should have CPF and cash for stability & growth respectively. I only wish to focus on cash investing so Robos helps in this way.
Endowus - 50% Value Funds (Endsate custody in UOB)
Fullerton WiseIncome - 50% (Solved the retirement supplementing income-bearing aspect which is what SRS intended for).

DIY with endowus fund smart. Basically UT but with endowus you have a wide selection within a reasonable expense ratio. Started late last year, currently sitting on a ROI of around 17%.
