What are your unpleasant experiences with banks?

I am using SC and their app is really kind of buggy. The new inclusion of SG Findex makes it even harder to find the things that I wanted.

For me, it's trying to reach any form of real live customer service.

Calling takes forever and online chat bots just redirect you to different links which doesn't really help when you want to speak to a real live customer service staff.

My worst experience was probably when I was trying to open a "DBS Vickers Cash Upfront" account. It's in quotation marks because, well, there's no such thing as a cash upfront account - it's simply a DBS Vickers account with cash upfront as a settlement mode. But back when I was just learning about investments, I had no idea - I genuinely thought it was a whole other account because I couldn't seem to choose "cash upfront" as the settlement mode even though I had cash in my settlement account.

I went down to a DBS branch and asked them about it, but for some reason, they directed me to UOB Kay Hian telling me that Vickers is no longer managed by DBS, so I would have better luck going to UOB. So I did. When I went to a UOB branch, they told me that I had to go down to the branch at Newton (UOB Kay Hian) for queries regarding UOB Kay Hian. So I did. When I got there, they said they didn't know anything about Vickers, and recommended me their Kay Hian account instead, which wasn't what I was interested in.

After that, I got so fed up that I called DBS Vickers and asked them about it. Then they told me that I could only use cash upfront if I log in to DBS Vickers via DBS iBanking, and I couldn't do so if I log in directly on DBS Vickers (there was no information about this online).

I don't know why it was so hard for me to get this information, but well, if there's anything I learned, it's that talking directly to a staff member is the best bet at finding information/solving your problems.
