You can always save the monthly allowance (assuming you are giving monthly) and give them on certain occasions such as their birthday/ festive seasons such as Chinese New Year/ Raya and so on.
Parents are always looking out for their child and does not want to seem as a burden to their kids. As they are paiseh to ask, you can always ask in return whenever possible.
There are also insurance plans that allows you to withdraw certain coupons at the end of 2nd year and you can always use that to give in return to your parents as "bonuses" and let them know that it is some sort of bonus so that they won't take it with burden.
