Travelling soon? Get free 500MB data with Eskimo eSim.

Just wanna share my experience with Eskimo - https://eskimo.travel/ - a travel esim that I used on a recent trip - and of course share my promo code.

What

Travel esim that can be used in 80+ countries such as Japan, UK, HK, France, Italy and Taiwan. The data you buy is valid for 2 years. Extra data you don't need can even be transferred to others with the Eskimo app.

10GB is US$25 aka S$34.24 but it's valid for 2 years. Other e-sims give you data for 30 days only so I think this is really a good deal. Plus you can buy the code to purchase data on Klook and make use of their promo codes to get a good discount.

How is it different from the physical sim cards? Esims are installed on your phone by following the instructions given to you when you download the Eskimo app. But your phone must be compatible or you cannot use it. Check their website for phone models that are compatible. Basically their benefit lies in not needing to fiddle with the physical sim card and risk losing it while you are making the change. You also don't have to worry about going out of the range (like with wireless routers that are more cost effective for a group but restricts them to staying within a certain range).

For comparison among similar 10GB packages by other travel esims:

  • Airalo: 18 USD (S$24.66, 30 days)
  • Sakura: 17 USD (S$23.29, 30 days)
  • Ubigi: 2400 yen (S$21.89, 30 days)
  • Holafly: 69 euro (unlimited data for 30 days, S$100.86)

Currency conversions are just a rough gauge.

Connection

Connection was fast and seamless, we hardly had any disconnection or lag (unless I was using VPN). Customer service was very responsive as well. The app is very easy to use and you can even see how much data you have left on the app. I used about 10GB over the course of 11 days in Japan. So if I go to say...JB in the near future, I simply have to disconnect my physical SIM and activate my e-sim to continue using what data I had left from the previous round.

Can make calls or receive sms?

Nope, you can't make calls or receive sms using the esim. You'd have to utilise your original sim card to do that. Other sign up for another esim like Mobal if you want both data and the ability to make phone calls.

Sign up is easy; you just have to make sure your phone is e-sim compatible. You can get 500MB free if you sign up via my referral code: LILIAN50208 at https://eskimo.travel/.
