Help: How should I deploy my >50% Cash position now (feeling FOMO)

Having cashed out more than 50% of my positions earlier this year, I now have > 50% cash position in my portfolio. With the recent market uptrend, it seems like the market bottom had passed me by, what do the experts out there reccommend if I am to redeploy the cash back into the markets?

What are you doing with your cash positions?

Should I pick individual stocks, ETFs, REITS, Cryptos, bonds or continue to hold onto cash until later date?

  • Just because they rallied one day doesn't mean they wouldn't fall the next 2 days. The treasury yield curve is still inverted and based on past occurrences, inverted yield curves are always a sign of recession to come.
  • Someone also plotted the 2008 GFC SPY chart with this year's SPY performance and there's an uncanny resemblance.
  • The above just shows that the future is simply uncertain. If you are aware you have the FOMO mentality, I would advise you to simply DCA into VOO / CSPX. It will smoothen out the volatility and would usually provide positive returns (based on historical trends)

Q1: Buy in tranches, u wont know where the market will go. Some say is recovery while some say is a sucker rally.

Q2: i always 100% invested. Other then emergency fund, there is no extra cash.

Q3:

  • ETFs (Index) for general.

  • Individual stocks- dont know what is your stock selection process. If you had bought PLTR, SOFI, SE, NIO.... these kind of companies previously, u would better off buying an ETF.

  • Reits- if you are a dividend investor, but dividend investors usually dont sell becoz of market crash.

  • Crypto- you still dare to touch after the several brokerages collapse? Then u are a hero 😆

  • Bond- SSB if you are risk averse.

  • Cash- Are u able to time the market perfectly?
