Stated my investment journey right before covid, saw red and still seeing red. Normal or im doing something wrong?

I could exit now, the combined dividends from ssb and reits over the years can would help me break even. But what's the point? I don't need that extra cash now per se, so the dividend stocks can just keep going. But this is a demoralising feeling of bagholding.

I have been DCA-ing into VWRA, that actually is still red. Not really sure if this is worth continuing either.

Is what im doing wrong?

I DCA in S&P500 index instead, i personally think it is less risky as compared

If you really feel that this stock is a good stock and will rise in the future, hold onto it

How much do you DCA each time? Your returns might have been affected by the transaction fees

If you're feeling demotivated, know that there are many in the same situation as you, and feeling the same as you (not that we are gaining pleasure from other people's suffer - but you get what I mean lol)

Most people who got in before COVID did not do it with the right expectations. They saw stocks can only go up (as evidenced in the previous 10 years), and assumed it will be the same every year thereafter.

Next, pull yourself together and ask yourself the following:

  • What are you looking to achieve? capital appreciation, dividend or others. If you are frowning upon the red balance in the account, you probably are looking for capital appreciation more than others.
  • If cut now, do you know or have any alternative instruments to put those money in, such that they will meet your target (e.g. of having green balances consistently)
  • If yes, why not do it?
  • If no, start learning

All the best!

I dont think you are doing anything wrong. its just not good mkt now... DCA is probably the way but ...
