It seems easier to accumulate Krisflyer Miles over Skyward Miles, but personally I think Emirates has a much better first-class experience as compared to SQ. Should I work towards Krisflyer or Emirates redemptions? Which would be more worth the effort?

SQ will be better as it is a local based service. you will be able to get point easier as it is local.

It depends where u want to fly to,
if EK does fly there and EK is harder to accrue, fewer credit card partners
and u want the EK bling bling experiene then go for it!

No doubt Emirates has the better firs clas experience than SQ. However as many of us stay in Singapore as our home, SQ will be better. This is because you are able to use Singapore airlines route more effiicently than Emirates. For emirates case, you always need to fly back to emirates home country and transist. For example, if you want to fly from SGP to JP, for SQ you can redeem a direct ticket there. However for Emirates, there is no direct route and the situation is that you have to book from SGP to Middle East, followed by middle East to JP. Not an effiicient use of miles for us.
This is why SQ krisflyer program is a better option for us. Of course there are exceptions such as if you are a frequent flyer of the singapore and europe routes

Ha, this is a trick question.
You should credit your flown miles to Alaska Mileageplan, which can then be used to redeem for both Emirates and SQ flights!
