Should I quit school to trade full time?

Hi, I'm currently a year 1 ntu computer science student and have recently crossed $570k in trading profits and thinking about transitioning into trading full time.

I have been trading since polytechnic and all the money was from my ns allowance and part time job before ns. It's difficult to talk to anyone about it because some have a negative view on trading although I have been in the markets for a number of years, and most people at this stage of my life are focused on studies. I'm still young and wanna give life a shot and also venture into starting a business. Really at this point, I dont know if I should continue to finish up my degree before making a decision, I know that most will evetually go for FT jobs after graduation and by then liabilities and responsibilities in life will start to pile and I won't have the ability to experiment with what I wanna do especially wrt trying new business ideas and exploring my interests.

Would appreciate feedbacks from people on here especially anyone who has taken similar routes :)

Just quit school and trade full time. Honestly, if you are already making consistent profits in trading then I guess you can do this full time. Your mind is already somewhere else so just give it a shot man. There is life beyond Uni. You can go ahead and try and if it fails then come back and study with a more focused mindset.

I'm doing my degree but I honestly feel if you have a plan just go for it. Don't follow other people's opinions to take a degree as a safety net. That's just doing it for the sake of doing it. Life is finite, pursue your dreams. All the best!

I'm late to this, but here's my take!

  1. Schooling is not just for future income, it helps to widen your network, life experiences and make one more mature too.
  2. Opportunity cost - balancing the intangibles, will you be earning significantly more trading full time?
  3. Similar to what the others mention, how about starting a youtue channel? One that teaches others to trade, in a responsible manner. So many 'trading schools' are just out to earn profits. You might earn influencer income, I see it more as a chance to spread your skills while value-adding and possibly changing people's lives. I know my life needs this lol.
  4. I was young but remember the effects of the 1997 financial crisis, 2008 subprime mortgage crisis affecting stock markets. Right now stocks are doing well; highest they've ever been; what will you plan to do in the years a true global recession did? Can see studies/other work as a chance to ride it out.
  5. Also if you are willing to teach, can I be a student pl! lol. loans to payyyy

Maybe you will become sick of trading one day. You can consider deferring your studies and just trade full time for a bit to see if you can sustain it for the long run.

Quit your study and focus on your trading. This is also a legit business. Why make other people rich when u can make yourselve rich.

U should still complete your degree as a self achievement (if that is your initial goal). Why did yo...
