Is it wiser to rent a house or buy a house? I've heard of friends who own businesses, only renting so that they have the liquidity to invest in their business. I am interested to know what are your thoughts?

From my point of view, I believe that buying is more worth than renting. Depending on the types of accommodation that you are looking for, sometimes, the mortgage payment is lower than the rent payment. In addition, real estate is an appreciating asset ( if nothing goes wrong and you know what you are doing) and with the aid of a relatively low-interest rate housing loan. Why don't you take advantage of it to purchase an asset for you and your family, providing security while possibly paying a lower amount to the mortgage which increases your net asset value instead of enhancing someone else?
This is just my views on it, hope it helps.

It depend. For your friend, he is wise, the yield will be higher when he reinvest back to his own buisness than any stock or properties. He can buy anytime when his buisness stablised
But for typical employee like us, is better to get a house. Because we have only 2 options stocks &/or properties. In additional, we can use CPF to pay installment, which employer also help to contribute. Basically we can fork out $0 cash from our pocket to pay monthly installment. If u own a buisness u must contribute CPF yourself.
