Question about selling stocks through different brokeage account

Hi, I bought stock through OCBC securities and would like to sell via POEM. I thought that my stock will appear in POEM as my POEM is CDP-linked. To my surprise, when I logged in to POEM, I didn't see my stock. Can I still sell my shares through POEM even if I didn't see in my account? My account is cash management and my 2 trading accounts, OCBC Securities and POEM are reflected in CDP.

Hi Anon,

I'm from Phillip Securities. Yes you can sell from POEMS.

This applies any other CDP linked account really. A CDP linked broker only sends the instructions to CDP to execute the trades.

CDP is the custodian. So they will take instructions from any broker. Thus you could buy via UOB KH and sell via POEMS. UOB KH won't know you sold, since the sell instruction does not flow through them, and only CDP really knows how many shares you have.

I suspect POEMS doesn't automatically show the shares in CDP that was bought thru other brokers. If you have confirmed your shares are in CDP, you can sell those shares thru POEMS even if you don't see them in your account.
