Please help: Upgrading AIA HealthShield Gold Max Plan C to Plan B - Exclusions and Existing coverage?

I am currently on AIA HSG Plan C which is no longer being sold. I am in the midst of upgrading it to Plan B with broader coverage. However, I have sustained an injury under Plan C which I didn't claim for.

In the offered terms for Plan B, it says all existing conditions will be excluded. My agent told me that I will retain coverage under C, but the AIA CS officer I spoke with told me I will lose coverage under C once I upgrade to B.

Do I retain coverage for my injury under Plan C or not?

For this purpose, you will need to speak with your agent. Above all, he will have the most accurate information with regards to your coverage.

Generally, you will retain your existing insurance coverage if you choose not to upgrade.

Additionally, you will need to declare your health during the upgrade process. Thereupon, there will be a Modified Terms of Coverage Letter to inform you of any exclusions to your new coverage. In order to be covered under the new (upgraded) plan, you will need to acknowledge this letter. Otherwise, it will be deemed that you choose not to upgrade your coverage.

In any case, clarify the situation with your agent since he will be the most capable person to seek help from.

If Plan C was still being sold and you upgrade to Plan B, you are not likely to retain coverage.

It's rather unfair for you to lose coverage just because the plan is no longer being sold. Could you confirm this again with your agent? Let him/her know what the CS officer said. I'm not sure if the AIA CS officer fully understands your circumstances.

When upgrading, you should be asked to sign a form or two. Read them carefully and make sure your coverage is protected (or pro-rated accordingly).
