Maintaining a Budget of $500/Month as a University Student, Possible or Impossible?

I'm a University Student. I've been trying to reduce my monthly expenses with some progress. I heard that some people are able to sustain their lifestyle within a $500 budget. I was wondering how they are able to do so.

The following are some expenses I incurred as a student:

  1. Food
  2. Transport (Private-Hired Rides $30~$50/ride, depending on the situation, morning class, emergencies, Public Transport $2.20/ MRT ride, home to school)
  3. Stationery, books
  4. Misc, Etc

I don't stay in a hostel, so no rental fee. My Telecom bill is currently bundled with my family so no telecom bill.

I also save $15/week from my allowance.

I received a weekly allowance of $100 and I top it up with another $150.

Any suggestions or advice that you all can share with me so that I can reduce my expenses and stick to a budget ($500~$700/month)

What are your weekly, and monthly budget that you have stick by and how are you able to stick to them?

Really go everywhere with public transport.
