Start with S&P 500 etf, e.g. SPLG, SPYG and some World fund etf. Either DCA consistently or have a strategy like buy some at what entry point and hold it long term.

Get some bonds such as Tbills, SG bonds for some stability.

SG reits, blue chips and bank stocks are good to include in a diversified portfolio too.

Try reading some books to formulate a strategy 1st before you start buying.

Besides NYSE, conside LSE offerings as well for tax and estate reasons.

Lastly, make sure you already have proper financing in stuff like emergency funds before starting off. Good luck.

Here are a few suggestions for building a diversified investment portfolio for retirement:

For a low-cost, broad market exposure, I would recommend considering index funds that track major stock market indexes like the S&P 500 or MSCI World Index.

Some good options could be:

  1. Vanguard S&P 500 Index Fund (VFIAX)

  2. Vanguard Total World Stock Index Fund (VTWAX)

  3. iShares MSCI World ETF (IWDA)

These index funds provide exposure to a diverse range of large-cap stocks, which can be a solid foundation for a retirement portfolio.

For fixed-income investments, you could consider government bonds or bond funds, such as:

  1. Singapore Government Securities (SGS) bonds

  2. iShares SGS 1-3 Year ETF (STSS)

  3. Vanguard Total Bond Market Index Fund (VBTLX)

These bond investments can help provide stability and balance out the volatility of the stock market.

Remember to diversify your portfolio across different asset classes, sectors, and regions to manage risk. It's also important to consider your investment time horizon, risk tolerance, and financial goals when building your retirement portfolio.

Everyone kinda just whack S&P500, but do note that it may/may not be the fastest, yet low risk asset...
