So I just got told to leave my company. My contract says either the company or me is supposed to give 2 months notice before termination of contract. At my recent performance review, I got told I was "not cutting it", and was told to leave work the same day. I managed to call HR post-termination, and they said that my firing was perfectly legal.
Is this actually legal? What actions I can take?

Quickly file a case with TADM. you will get your salary for notice period. Terminating based on performance without notice is illegal. They have to put you in performance improvement plan (PIP) before terminating, even in that case, they still has to give you notice period salary. Don't show any mercy to those unethical people/company. Also file a claim if your termination is injust, that is a separate claim which has to be made within 30 days from your termination. you can claim for both.

What you described doesn't sound like a retrenchment. Unless you were terminated for cause (i.e. misconduct or breach of contractual terms), any other forms of termination would require that the notice period as prescribed in the employment contract be served , or for salary to be paid in lieu of notice. Eg on the basis that you said that you are entitled to two months notice period, the company can ask you to leave immediately but will need to compensate you 2 months worth of salary. If there's a dispute, you may wish to approach tafep. Hope this helps.
