No one can forsee the future, even reasonable likelyhood can fail in this covid environment. But you can consider what are you likely to learn from this job and are you ok with it? E.g. Fierce competition among colleagues? Cut throat working hours? Is this something for the short term 2-3 years that you are willing to endure etc.
Knowing your decision/ thought process would bring your further than the "correct" industry.

Retail is a good sector. Despite the quarantines, fashion and retail clocked in fourth, with 273 billionaires, or 10% of this year’s list. Some of the most storied names in couture can be found here, including LVMH chief Bernard Arnault and brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, controllers of the Chanel fashion house. One notable newcomer: Kim Kardashian West, whose Skims shapewear and KKW Beauty cosmetics and fragrance line helped catapult her onto this year’s list.

Whether are you suitable to work in retail or not, it depends on your character, your skills profile and ultimately, your interest and passion. This is a sector that will never go out of business. We all need to eat, shop and consume. E-commerce is certainly one exciting growth sector in the retail market, thus companies like Shopee are still hiring aggressively. However, do not follow blindly your peers. You need to follow your heart.
