As long as the interest rate that is tagged to the total price is lower than parking your money elsewhere, it is better to pay monthly installments.
For installements that incur 0% interest, it is recommended to pay by monthly as the accumulated interest earned via high-yield savings account or dividends earned via bonds or stocks will much exceed.

I take 0% interest fee payments when there are no hidden or frictional costs. I use the excess to invest into equities and manage my investment portfolio better. I only do this for items which I can pay off fully from the beginning to avoid late-fee charges.
