Have been in my company for 5 years and I feel that the progression is a lil slow... is it too late to change job and industry at 29 years old?

It is never too late! And 29 is the perfect time to take risks and try something new, especially if you don't have dependents.
Even if you have dependents, give yourselves 3-5 months to look for a new role while continuing with your current job.

40 is the real late.
However, you need to study carefully where is the next point as you might have the same feeling again and by then you are getting close to 40.

I don't think so as long as you feel like you will gain more than you lose. Find your passion and go on glassdoor to see what kind of working environment and the way of climbing the ladders will suit u!
