Is it a good time to invest in STI ETF now? Otherwise, are there other ETFs to invest in?

Any ETFs recommendations to invest in?

My view is that for beginner investors who want to start with the local market, STI ETF can be a good long term investment. I'd also invest in Singapore REITs either through Lion-Philip S-REIT ETF or Syfe REIT+. I prefer REIT+ for reasons I share in my comparison here.

You can also invest in Singapore bonds through the ABF Singapore Bond Index Fund if you're more risk averse.

I currently long ARKK, IEMG, SPY, and experimenting on TQQQ (3x nasdaq as I have bullish conviction). However, If you look over the internet, every site will warn you about leveraged etf (decay, bad risk adjusted return, not for long term, etc). So exercise caution as well.

Hello. This largely depends on your investing philosophy. If you're looking to invest in potential growth sectors, then the STI ETF is probably not for you. On the other hand, if you're looking to simply buy the entire market, then investing in the STI ETF is one ETF you can consider if you want to invest in the local market.

Additionally, you need to take note that the STI ETF is more for dividend investing. i.e. Expect tax-free dividends, but not superb growth. Hence, while the performance isn't stellar as compared to other ETFs like VOO or ARKK, it is not necessarily a bad investment.

If you are looking to invest in the local market but have a small capital, investing in the STI ETF is probably a more inexpensive and fuss-free way of doing so, rather than purchasing individual stocks in lots of 100 shares and incurring flat fees.

My opinion, looking at past performance of STI.. it looks like STI index ETF is not good to buy and hold for long term investing..

STI is not attractive
