Insurance for Overseas Studies?

I am interested to be covered for medical/hospitalization insurance during my overseas studies for 4-5 years (in the US/UK).

1) Would it make sense for me to get hospitalization insurance in Singapore?
2) Alternatively, does travel insurance cover medical/hospitalization for the period of 4-5 years?
3) Does personal accident insurance have global coverage?

Check with your school what insurance is provided first. If you find it is insufficient in certain areas, then you can look for additional coverage.
