Hello. I've only been actively looking into investing/wealth management since covid started. I notice that some people mentioned that they have their own financial advisor. Where do I start if I want to search for a financial advisor? I am looking for an unbiased, independent advisor, who is not working for any specific insurance companies/banks/roboadvisor companies. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Hi anon,
There are multiple places where you can look for an independent financial advisor, and I would suggest that you speak with a few first before deciding.
Most IFAs will be able to provide you with products from multiple insurers and fund houses, and in my case, Phillip Securities also has access to multiple stock markets. So the products don't matter, what matters is the quality of the advice. A lot hinges on the relationship between advisor and client. Ultimately what matters is that you find an advisor that you are comfortable working with and whom you can share details about your finances with. This is very important so that your situation can be taken into consideration and the right advice is given to you.
Hence, going back to what I mentioned at the start, it is important for you to speak to the advisor to gauge if there will be a fit.
