Do you mean to have 20k in cash? Net worth covers a lot more. Some may consider CPF and insurance payouts to be part of net worth, but not exactly investible.
This is purely me:
Assume insurance all covered. Deposit 5k in Standard Chartered JumpStart, and 2k in CIMB (for CIMB AWSM credit card). Jumpstart has the highest, no condition, interest rate at 2%. CIMB has lower rates at 1%, but going mainly for the card (no fees till 29yo) to build up credit score.
Now im left with 13k to work with. I might want to spend more time studying than stock picking so i'll go with a passive index fund. Depending on market condition, i may want to invest some in a medium cap etf. I may do a lump sum 60-40, equity to bond, allocation to the respective indexes and save all the hassle. My energy would purely be focused on getting scholarships, internships and good grades since those have higher return on investment of my time in university. RSP is also an option if you are uncertain about the market conditions.
