I wish to give up joint custody in exchange of stopping child maintenance and my ex wife is agreeable to this arrangement. Do we need to return to court on this or can a lawyer do up our agreement and that will be legal binding?

I am seeing someone with plan to remarry and set up family with her.

I would suggest that you file an application to vary the existing Order of Court, with your ex-wife consenting to the application. Better to have the agreement in the Court records.

What is covered under joint custody of a child where both parties must consult each other and get agreement?

Is it true for only child, parents of the child need not do nomination of their assets (E.g. CPF, HDB flat, bank amount) as the Public Trustee Office will eventually give these assets to the child?
