Hi my wife and I are mid-30s and expecting our 4th child. My wife recently indicated that she wishes to step down to take care of the kids and I don’t think we can afford it. How to convince her?

Salary wise we bring in 18K per month before CPF.

I take in 5K per month while my wife earns the majority at 13K per month. Expense's run into 10k per month. How to tell her we cannot afford for her to quit.?

My reply is belated but I think you need to let your wife air out first. Why does she want to quit even though she is bringing home the bulk of the bacon? Is she feeling inadequate as a working mum as she feels she is shortchanging your kids? Or is she feeling burnt out from work and wants to take a hiatus?

if she wants to quit, then it's clear that she doesn't mind dialing back the quality of your lifestyle? Are there wants that you can rip off from your life so that the whole family can live more frugally?

seek to understand first, then be understood

because ultimately, happy wife happy life

10k per month is very high for a family of 5.

Your family needs to cut down on lifestyle is she wants to step down.
