I want to start my invest journey. I have opened my FSM and CDP account but I have no investing knowledge. Where do I start from if I am looking at a high 5 figure amount to invest?

Thanks in advance!

Hey there!

Great job on starting on your investment journey!

You can consider building a portfolio of a variety of assets taking into consideration your risk appetite and time horizon. If your risk appetite is small, you might want to allocate a larger portion, say 60-70% on something safer, eg. bonds etc. If not, then you mighr want to consider allocating more to stocks and bonds.

There are many ways for you to do this, eg. you can do dollar cost averaging or do a lump sum investment. You can track an ETF passively by buying into a ETF or build your own portfolio or do both. Ultimately, make sure you diversify across different regions, industries and companies. ETF tracking is a very good way to do it (depending on which ETF you are tracking).

In general, depending on your life stage, if you are nearing a retirement age, you may want something thats safer and give you dividends.

Do make sure your protection needs are covered and your emergency funds (6 months worth at least) are settled before embarking on your journey.
