Hi Anon,
I feel that the Aviva Group Term Life is something that's good to have, and should only be an add-on. It's still recommended to have your own insurance policies.
I spoke to a financial advisor recently, and he mentioned that Aviva currently has the rights to provide the GTL, however, things may change in the future and the insurance provider might change to another company. In the event that this happens, there may be a change in terms and conditions so the amount of coverage that you have may change as well.
You also do not have the choice on how you want to allocate your 'death payout' when you pass on, unless you write a will. If you have your own plan, you can decide on how much you wish to allocate to your family members etc.
As such, I feel that having a personal plan would still be beneficial and the Aviva GTL would be an addon due to its really cheap premiums.
