But being a PR/employment pass holder we are excluded into these.. Are there any other relatively affordable and higher coverage (I don't mind high coverage up to 65 years only) ones out there for us?

Term plan.

Beyond a certain age, it is not true that SAF term plan is cheaper than all private term plans. That is a myth.

Definitely, The cost is just slightly more expensive (about 2 to 5% more only). So it should not matter whether you can get group term, or private term.

DPI insurance, IFA, MoneyOwl can generate them for you.

Hi Anon,

Yes there are affordable and good value term plans in the market.

The mindef group insurance is indeed a good solution, I've written before here sharing on the pros and cons of mindef group plan.

But for certain term periods and if you are young, premiums with a personal plan can even be cheaper. You definitely benefit also with critical illness covered on a personal plan.
