I'm interested in buying index funds, like the Nasdaq and SNP500, but there are so many different names, how do they differ?

I'm a 20yr old student and am planning to invest for the long term 30yrs+ (not trading) and am planning to start buying stocks or index funds ( as advised by Buffett ) but have no clue on where to start. I have opened accounts with TD Ameritrade and Tiger but have yet to fund it. First ever investment journey has been with StashAway and Syfe, currently II have switched to all in on Equity100 with $8k in total. But i want to learn to try and DIY by my own. Will provide more info if asked!

Hey there! Good job on deciding to start investing for the long term and good timing too I guess since we're taking a bit of a hit lately!

For S&P 500:

US: IVV or VOO

LSE: CSPX

For Nasdaq100:

US: QQQ

LSE: EQQQ

Since your brokers (TD and Tiger) only have access to the US exchanges and not the LSE, IVV/VOO or QQQ would be good choices for S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 ETFs!

You can also check out my article on the difference between different S&P500 ETFs here!
