I have just started a new account using the interactivebrokers.com.sg website but once set up, it directs me to the .com.au website instead. Is that correct?

This happened to me too!

I initially went to the main page of com.sg to read more about the broker, and when I decided to open new account, I was redirected to com.hk. Finally when my account was approved, the link is became com.au.

Yup it's quite normal to see different country suffixes when accessing ibkr. I think they just redirect traffic based on how busy each subdomain (idk if that's the term) is. But yea, it happens quite normally to me as well.
