Hi Julie and Dennis, I'm a Class of 2021 soon to graduate from uni. I've been applying for jobs since Oct 2020 but with barely any luck with scoring or getting past interviews. My GPA is considered decent, at second upper, I've gotten my career coach to look at my resume too. So what else could I be doing wrong? Getting really anxious and worried right now...

Curious what field are you in?
Also, try to break down which part of the process you're failing at. If you're not getting any call backs from your resume, re-evaluate your resume (try to get industry insiders and not just career coaches). Where are you applying for these jobs? A tip I learnt was that instead of applying via a recruiter or job portal, use it to look for roles then apply directly on the company's site.
If you're failing at the interviewing stage, try to get someone to practice with you on some of usual questions. Anxiety and nervousness is a real thing. If you get rejected, email and ask for feedback, they may or may not give you any. But if they do, think about what they said and work on the areas if possible.
If you've done internships before, try to reach out to your previous colleagues and supervisors for potential referrals and advice. In the mean time, continue to look for relevant opportunities but don't overwhelm yourself.

Time is bad, headcount was frozen even before pre-covid. Every replacement requires business case to justify to higher management, not to mention new headcount.
if you are from mechancial / chemical engineering background, pm me I can send you the JD of a replacement role.

Hi. A lot of hiring is actually through referrals. A lot of company also gives incentives to the employees if they can refer someone. Can I suggest for you to connect with your seniors on Linkedin, introduce yourself and perhaps ask for coffee catch up to understand the opportunities in the company? Few people reached out to me that way and people are generally helpful.

There is no magic number. Just keep applying. A good friend of mine has first class honours in a STEM field and still took 13 months (June 2019 -July 2020) to land a job after 300+ applications.
