I have a ntuc enhanced preferred insurance + full rider (old scheme). I am paying $1329 + $1587 (rider). I am 54 this year. I was wondering how can I reduce the premium? What options do I have?

I would still like to have the enhanced preferred insurance as I would like to have the option of a private hospital and my desired doctor. The rider premium is my concern, is there any other option for a cheaper rider?

Hi Anon,

You can get downgrade to the Classic Care rider to save premiums.

You'll open yourself to a 10% co-pay with a $3000 cap if you visit a panel doctor instead of 100% coverage.

Premium for your age would be $657 instead of $1587. That's $930/yr saved, all cash.

On a $10,000 bill, co-pay will only be $1000 per claim (almost how much you saved on the premiums per year) or for bigger bills like $50,000 it's still only $3000 (not $5,000 as there's a $3k cap).
