I am holding too much cash compared to investment. How do I get over the “traditional” mindset of keeping cash in the bank and invest more?

It seems to be tough for me, as I seem to struggle with investing instead of saving the money. Any advice on how I can get over this mental roadblock?

1) think of your cash slowly melting away due to inflation

2) dream of your money 2x and 3x in a few years

How about using CPF top-ups as a transition? If you top up your CPF SA account, you are guaranteed to gain 4% interest for now.

I think once you get used to seeing money disappear from your bank whenever you do your top-ups (and getting validation in the form of interest earned every Jan 1), you will soon want to embark on your investing journey.

So that's the route I took. Topping up my CPF & now trying to pump in as much money as I can into my SRS (my investments done mainly through my SRS)

Hi there,

your struggle is understandable especially during this turbulent time. However investment does not always require a big chunk, you can always start small and gradually build up your investment as you gain more confidence in your progress.

Have you check out any particular robo-advisors such as kristal.AI?

In kristal.AI investmet can be made without any FEES and you don't have to be concern about any hidden catches along the line. There is no fees for your first $50,000 investment which makes kristal.AI a great choice for an investment platform, To add to that, you can use our free algorithm feature to get investment advice on asset allocation, and to have a portfolio which fits your profile and suits your needs.

Kristal also implement all weather portfolio which ultimately considered as a simple asset allocation across equities, fixed income bonds and gold. This works well in medium to longer term in consistent and stable manner. The reasoning behind this all weather portfolio is to make sure you always have a safety net from either elements (equities, fixed income or gold). For example during crisis, gold is considered a safe bet, which is great for you if you have an all weather portfolio even when the other elements are experiencing turbulance.
