I'm currently interning at the Big 4 which is notorious for its low internship allowance (850/month for uni student). If anything you should be earning a higher allowance since you're from the IT industry

As Yong Ming has said, check with the school on what is the minimum allowance. While it is true that an internship is supposed to build up your skills, no employer should underpay their interns. From what I know an internship allowance for university undergraduates is usually $800 onwards.

An internship is never about pay. More about resume building. Else doing grab food in your free time might yield higher income potential.

Focus on the learnings rather than the internship allowance. Wouldn't recommend you to join a company that offers high allowance but doesn't allow you to learn. Learning and future opportunity should be top priority for internship!

Okay this sounds very one-sided, because I have heard of unpaid internships, so if that is possible ...
