I am confused over Aviva MyWholeLifePlan III ECI and CI riders?

  1. I am interested in $75k x 2 sum assured plan. May I know if the CI Advance Cover IV is "parked" under the ECI Advance Cover IV? When I buy the ECI rider, does it means that it already includes the CI rider?
  2. What if my plan is the $75k x 2 sum assured plan, and my ECI rider is $37.5k x 2, do I need another $37.5k x 2 for the CI rider? If so, what happens if I do not add this other $37.5k x 2 for the CI rider?
  3. If my ECI rider is $75k x 2, do I still need to buy a CI rider of $75k x 2?

Hi anon,

  1. Correct. ECI Advanced Cover rider will also cover Late CI. If you have $75K x 2 basic sum assured and $75K x 2 ECI rider, you can't add LCI rider any more.

  2. Yes, you should add LCI $37.5K x 2. In fact, I'd say you must. If you only have ECI $37.5K x 2, any payout will be half of your sum assured and the rest can only be claimed on Death/TPD, which isn't the point of a whole life CI plan.

  3. No. See 1.
