How useful is the CFA certificate in career change to the finance world?

Currently working as an engineer in a semiconductor company for about 1.5 years after graduation. Developing interest in financial markets and interested in taking exams in CFA level 1. Not sure how useful is the CFA certificate in a career change since prior to this I have no Finance/Accounting background.

It would depend on which aspect of the finance world. Insurance/sales/audit/etc dont really need CFA. It's more applicable for those in the investment sector, and even there there is segregation of many types.
