I actually did it locally and ended up not saving money. Sharing my 'bad' experience so that you guys can learn and save instead.

1) Compare prices. Don't restrict yourself to just the wedding studios. There are so many great freelance photographers out there.

2) Wedding studios will 'offer' special rates if you do pre-wedding shoots and actual day shoots. This is not true.

3) Ala-cart packages works pretty well. Get your make up artist, wedding gown, photographer from different sources

4) From the start, negotiate the price to include ALL photos. Otherwise, you might end up paying extra to buy more photos because all photos look so great.

5) Don't be trick to upgrade your packages when you are selecting the photos. Stick to what you had originally planned and paid for.
