How to diversify into RMB? Is it even feasible?

Hi, what are your thoughts on diversification, and in particular adding RMB to the overall portfolio instead of just holding everything in SGD?

Currently have SGD and USD holdings in my portfolio. Thinking of adding RMB but have not found a good way yet (as I can't find ETFs in RMB currency with sufficient liquidity). Buying RMB and keep it in RMB FD could be a way and less appealing and perhaps a bit of hassle.

Keen to learn from you guys. Thanks.

My view is that the SGD is overvalued, I have been shofting my currency holding to HKD as i anticipate the SGD will depreciate by about 5%

  • Currencies alway fluctuate relative to each other. Will not have significant advantage holding one currencies over the other.
  • Unless the currencies are weakening over the long term, like ringgit.

  • SGD is actually quite strong and resilient converting either SGD-USD or SG-RMB. So just hold SGD.
