How to Actually Maximise Trust Bank Rewards in 2026 (Referral Code 2GG9T8K3 + Stockback + Trust+)

Most Trust posts here focus on just the signup bonus and stop there, but there's a stacking strategy across the referral reward, the Freedom Card's reward modes, and Trust's Trust+ tier that a lot of people are leaving on the table. Laying it out end to end.

Step one — the referral layer, one-time only: sign up with a referral code (2GG9T8K3 works) before anything else, since this is the only step that has to happen before account creation. Credit card signup nets a sure-win scratch card worth S$50 to S$8,000; savings account signup nets S$8 to S$1,888. This part is done once and doesn't recur, so get it right on day one.

Step two — pick the right Freedom Card reward mode for where you are right now, not permanently:

  1. Stockback, 3% on local and foreign spend, capped at S$500 a quarter (roughly S$16,667 spend to max it out), is the strongest of the three modes until 31 December 2026, after which it drops to 2% local / 0.5% foreign. If you're comfortable holding fractional US stock/ETF rewards rather than cash, this is the highest-value mode while it lasts.
  2. Unlimited cashback, 1.5% local / 0.5% foreign, no cap and no minimum spend, is the better pick if you'd rather have flexible cash than equity exposure, or if your spend is unpredictable month to month.
  3. Bonus cashback, up to 15% on one chosen category capped at S$250 a quarter, only wins if your spend is genuinely concentrated in that one category — otherwise the capped nature means you plateau fast.
  4. You can switch modes for free at the start of every quarter, so this isn't a permanent decision — revisit it based on what you're actually spending on that quarter.

Step three — know what happens to Stockback value if you switch away from it: if you move off Stockback mode into cashback or bonus mode, whatever Stockback value you'd already accumulated doesn't disappear — it's kept until its own expiry, which runs to the end of the following calendar year (value earned in 2026 expires end of 2027). So you're not penalised for switching mid-year if your spending pattern changes.

Step four — the Trust+ tier most people don't realise they're close to: if your combined average daily balance across your Trust savings account and/or TrustInvest hits S$100,000, you automatically move into Trust+ the following month, unlocking Trust's highest available interest tier and additional perks. If you're already holding savings across multiple digital banks to stay under each one's cap, consolidating enough into Trust specifically to clear this threshold can be worth doing the math on, especially since Trust's overall deposit cap (S$1.2 million) is much higher than GXS or MariBank's, so there's more room to grow into it.

Putting it together: referral code first (one-time reward), Stockback while the 3% rate lasts through end of 2026 if you're fine with stock rewards, switch to unlimited cashback once the rate drops in January if you'd rather have cash, and keep an eye on your combined balance if S$100k for Trust+ is within reach.

I've mapped the referral code step and current reward tiers against the latest promo infographic over here, useful as the starting point before the rest of this stacking approach: https://dlcuration.com/trust-bank-referral-code...

Disclosure: referral link, small benefit to me if you sign up through it, no effect on your own reward.

Anyone actually running the Stockback mode right now — curious what you're holding it in and whether you're planning to switch once the rate drops in January.
